Ash, Misty, and Pikachu continue their journey through the Viridian Forest, when they come across Weedle, a bug-type Pokémon. Ash uses his Pidgeotto to weaken it, but when he is about to capture it, is distracted by a young Samurai, and Weedle escapes.
The Samurai, who is a bug catcher, challenges Ash in combat, but they reach a stalemate when both of them use their immovable Metapods.
