Viridian City is located in southwestern Kanto and connects to Pallet Town via Route 1 to the south, to the Viridian Forest and Pewter City via Route 2 to the north, and further to the west via Route 22.

Pokémon Center in Ruins

Nurse Joy teleports all the Poké Balls in the center to Pewter City, in order to protect them from the rampage of the Pokémon thieves. Meanwhile, Ash and Misty confront Team Rocket's Ekans and Koffing without much success.

The intruders are defeated when Pikachu's overcharged Thunder Shock attack destroys the Pokémon Center. This makes Team Rocket realize that Pikachu is a rare Pokémon indeed.

The Pokémon center is now in ruins.

Pokémon Center Reception

Misty catches up with Ash at the Pokémon center. She is furious because the bike he stole from her is in pieces. Nurse Joy lets them know that her treatment was a success, and Pikachu will be okay.

The Pokémon thieves break into the center, and reveal themselves as Team Rocket, a gang of misfits intent on ransacking the facility in search of rare and valuable Pokémon.

Viridian City Pokémon Center

The Pokémon center is a facility that offers trainers and their Pokémon different services, chiefly among them, healthcare. Attended by Nurse Joy and assisted by Chansey, the center in Viridian is huge.

Due to all the injuries sustained during the fight with the Spearow, Pikachu is taken to the critical care unit. Nurse Joy promises she will do everything she can for it.

Officer Jenny's Kōban

This is Officer Jenny's substation, located near the south exit of Viridian City. Right now there's no one manning the desk, because she is giving Ash and Pikachu a ride to the Pokémon center.

It is the perfect moment for the suspected Pokémon thieves to rip off all the "wanted" posters warning the city of their presence. Who are these lawbreakers roaming around in a hot air balloon?

Welcome to Viridian City!

Whereas Pallet is a small coastal village, Viridian is a larger city to the north with more infrastructure, and is a common pit stop for Pokémon trainers in the Kanto region.

Police officer Jenny, who has been in the lookout for a band of suspected Pokémon thieves, gives Ash and the badly hurt Pikachu a ride in her motorcycle to the city's Pokémon Center. They are followed by an annoyed Misty, who carries her charred bike on her shoulders.

Hours later, after the storm clears, trainer and Pokémon wake up in the middle of the trail. Ash carries Pikachu the final stretch of Route 1 until they arrive in Viridian City.

Off in the distance, flying into a bright rainbow, Ash sees a Pokémon that his Pokédex cannot identify... Eternal happiness.
