Lavender Town in a Kanto Region Map

 "The Noble Purple Town."

Lavender Town is located in eastern Kanto. Although much smaller than the other main cities in the region, it is renown for being the location of the haunted Pokémon Tower, where "Becalm the Spirits of Pokémon." Lavender connects to Saffron City via Route 8 to the west, to the Rock Tunnel via Route 10 to the north, and to the Silence Bridge via Route 12 to the south.

Saffron City in a Kanto Region Map

"Shining Golden Land of Commerce"


Saffron City is located in central Kanto. It's the largest city in the entire region. It connects to Cerulean City via Route 5 to the north, to Celadon City via Route 7 to the west, to Vermilion City via Route 6 to the south, and to Lavender Town via Route 8 to the east.

Maiden's Peak in a Kanto Region Map

The presumed location of Maiden's Peak, based on the heroes' travels, is in a cape somewhere near Saffron City and Celadon City. While this is not confirmed, Kanto's geography and old maps suggest this is the most likely place.

Giant Pokémon Island in a Kanto Region Map


Giant Pokémon Island is located south of the Kanto mainland. Accessible only by ferry, the closest locations to this island are Fuchsia City to the north, and the Seafoam Islands to the west.

Half of the island is occupied by Pokémon Land, a theme park owned by Team Rocket's boss. The other half of the island, also known as Porta Vista, is comprised of two cities: Aopulco and Hatoba Port.

Vermilion City in a Kanto Region Map


"The Port of Exquisite Sunsets."

Vermilion is a port city in southeast Kanto. Aside from the ships that dock and sail year round, the city also has two exits: to Saffron City via Route 6 to the north, and Route 11 further to the east.

It took Ash, Misty, and Brock two weeks to get from Bill's Lighthouse to Vermilion. Most likely they were off-road most of the trip.

Bill's Lighthouse in a Kanto Region Map


Bill's lighthouse is located in Cerulean Cape, northeast Kanto. To get here, one must exit Cerulean City via Route 24 to the North, and then Route 25 to the East.

It's unclear how Ash, Misty, and Brock ended up here, when they were heading to Vermilion City. Thinking they were taking a shortcut, got lost soon after leaving Cerulean City.

Cerulean City in a Kanto Region Map

"A mysterious blue aura surrounds it."

Cerulean City is located in northern Kanto. It is a coastal city, since it is near a sea inlet. One of two cities in the Kanto Region to have four connecting roads, Cerulean has a west exit to Mount Moon via Route 4, a south exit to Saffron City via Route 5, an east exit to Lavender Town via Routes 9 and 10, and a north exit leading to Cerulean Cape via Routes 24 and 25.

Mount Moon is located in northern Kanto, and connects to Pewter City via Route 3 to the west, and to Cerulean City via Route 4 to the east.

Pewter City is located in northwestern Kanto and connected to Viridian City via Route 2 to the south, and to Mount Moon via Route 3 to the east.

Viridian City is located in southwestern Kanto and connects to Pallet Town via Route 1 to the south, to the Viridian Forest and Pewter City via Route 2 to the north, and further to the west via Route 22.

Pallet is located in a peninsula Southwest of the Kanto Region. The village has two main routes: To the north is the only road, Route 1 to Viridian City. To the south is water route 21 to Cinnabar Island.
