Team Rocket boards the ship disguised as waiters. As he surveils the shopping isle, James is tricked by a con man who sells him a Magikarp promising that it will make him rich. James gives the grifter his and Jessie's salary for the useless Pokémon.
Ash also makes a bad deal: the gentleman from the match offers to trade his Raticate for Ash's Butterfree as a gesture of goodwill and sportsmanship. Rushed to decide, Ash gives away the Pokémon he raised since it was a Caterpie.
